Kildare GAA
My message to people living in Clane, both old and new, is that we welcome everyone to the Club. Despite Kildare's early exists from the championships in 1996, Gaelic Games are in a very healthy state in Clane and our Club aims to be progressive in catering for the young people in the area.

The Club has a long and proud history and we sincerely welcome everyone to come and join our growing numbers of members.
This Club has plans to expand our facilities and to provide the best available for our playing and social members.

Greetings from the Hon. Secretary

This is my first year as Secretary of Clane G.A.A. Club, having succeeded the great Jim Daly who served as Secretary for 24 years.

The Club has embarked on a major development of our social facilities and when this is completed we will have facilities here to match any other in the country. This is only fitting for a Club which has a continuous history going back to the foundation of the GAA and which in terms of success on the playing field in both Hurling and Football is unrivalled in Co. Kildare.

We are immensely proud of the great work done down through the years by successive Committee Heads and it is up to us to continue that work for future generations.

A word from the P.R.O

Clane G.A.A., regarded as the oldest club in the county, have progressed in a major way from the good old days, when like most
other clubs we relied on local farmers to provide a pitch, and a bit of wheeling and dealing with building contractors for scaffolding poles (timber in those days) for use as goal posts and crossbars.

The big transformation began in the early sixties when we obtained a plot of land in Blackhall and moved from Manzor's Field which was generously given for our use by the late James Manzor, whose son Seamus and wife Kitty are still very much involved with their continued sponsorship.

Joe Bracken, Sean Cribben and Jim Daly had a dream of a home nearer the village and when the late Peter Marron suggested that we buy Kearney's Bottoms some members felt this was a madness as this particular field was a total swamp.
It is a testament to the trust the Club has in those men that the plan went ahead and after a lot of hard work the dream became a
reality. Another pitch was purchased a few years ago and further development work on our complex is in the pipeline, and we
hope the community and club members will row in behind the club in the same spirit of trust and effort, as we embark on this
ambitious venture.

At present we cater for football and hurling teams in every age group from U9 up to senior and indeed in some age groups to
make sure all who wish to play can do so, we have entered a second team.

The club would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new families who have moved into Clane and its surrounds, and to wish you all a happy and successful future.
